T he 2009 Italian Open Championships will take place on Sept 5-6, 2009 on Corallo Beach in Ostia near Rome, Italy. Freestylers from across Europe and America will compete for the chance to be crowned Italian Open Champion in 3 divisions; Open Pairs and Open Co-op (3 person teams) and Mixed Pairs.
The judges will evaluate the routines as they're performed based on 3 categories; artistic impression, difficulty and execution. The freestyle routines will be 4 or 5 minutes long and feature creative, artistic and athletic moves with flying discs choreographed to music. Competitive freestyle combines aspects of gymnastics and dance with the basic game of throw, catch and spin. A majority of the movements are based on spinning or brushing the disc where the players spin the disc on their fingernail or brush and roll the disc into the wind. News
